Hi Kids CAM + Families!
We’re so excited to begin another year of Kids CAM +! Thank you for trusting us with your children and for giving them the opportunity to explore their creativity, discover their gifts, and grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Kids CAM + is about more than learning a creative skill. We want children to discover that what they create, how they serve, and who they are can all become ways of following Jesus.
Each week, we’ll begin together with a short devotional and time to connect before students head into their Creative Arts + Ministry groups. Throughout the year, they’ll have opportunities to develop their skills, work together, serve others, and prepare for our April production.
We’ve put together this information so you know what to expect each Wednesday. Please read all of the information below which includes important schedule information.
WHEN & WHERE
Wednesdays | 3:30–4:30 PM
College View Academy
5240 Calvert St. Lincoln, NE 68506 (High School Building - behind the pavilion)
Kids CAM + is open to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Please check the calendar, as meeting locations or schedules may occasionally vary. Any changes will also be communicated through the CVC app/email.
FOR STUDENTS WHO ATTEND COLLEGE VIEW ACADEMY
One of the great things about Kids CAM + is that CVA students do not need to be picked up from school and brought back for the program.
A list of registered Kids CAM + students will be provided to Nicole Christensen at the front desk and to the appropriate teachers.
FOR HOMESCHOOL & OTHER-SCHOOL STUDENTS
Children who are homeschooled or attend another school are absolutely welcome at Kids CAM +!
Parents should bring their child to the front entrance of the High School Building at College View Academy.
A Kids CAM + adult volunteer will check your child in before the program begins.
Please allow enough time for check-in so your child is ready to begin at 3:30 PM.
OUR WEDNESDAY TOGETHER
3:10 PM | CVA Student Transition
Kids CAM + volunteers meet registered CVA students at the elementary building and walk together to the high school building.
3:10–3:30 PM | Snack + Connection
Students settle in, enjoy a snack, and have some time to connect with friends before we begin.
3:30–3:45 PM | Devotional
We begin together with a short devotional, prayer, and time to focus our hearts and minds on Jesus.
3:45–4:30 PM | Creative Arts + Ministry Groups
Students meet with their preselected Creative Arts + Ministry group.
Depending on the group, students may develop creative skills, work on individual or group projects, prepare for outreach opportunities, or work toward our worship experiences.
PICK-UP | 4:30 PM
Kids CAM + ends at 4:30 PM.
All students should be picked up at the front entrance of the High School Building.
Parents and approved adults should check their child out with a Kids CAM + volunteer before leaving.
Please plan to arrive promptly at 4:30 PM so we can make sure every child is safely checked out.
If someone other than a parent/guardian will be picking up your child, please make sure that person is listed or communicated to the Kids CAM + team according to our check-out procedures.
If you are running late, please contact the Kids CAM + team so we know your child is still waiting for pickup.
WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING?
For most weeks, children do not need to bring anything special.
Any supplies or materials needed for a particular Creative Arts + Ministry group will be communicated by the group leader.
A water bottle is always a good idea.
If your child's group requires something specific for an upcoming project or rehearsal, the group leader will let you know ahead of time.
SNACKS & FOOD ALLERGIES
Students will have a snack available in the high school lunchroom while they wait for Kids CAM + to begin.
Please make sure to notify us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions.
CREATIVE ARTS + MINISTRY GROUPS
Students have selected the group they are most interested in. Final placement is based on interest, age/grade, group size, and available space. Some groups have limited enrollment.
Our groups are designed to help children do more than simply learn a skill. We want them to discover how their creativity can become a way to connect with God, build relationships, serve others, and share His love.
Throughout the year, students will have opportunities to participate in:
Creative Projects
Developing skills and creating individually and together.
Outreach Opportunities
Using their gifts and creativity to bless and serve others.
Worship Experiences
Bringing our different creative disciplines together for a shared worship experience during the main service at College View Church.
We want children to experience the joy of creating while discovering that creativity can also be an expression of faith and service.
COMMUNICATION
Please keep an eye on the CVC app and your email for updates throughout the year.
Information specific to your child's group—including supplies, special projects, rehearsals, outreach opportunities, or schedule changes—will be communicated by the Kids CAM + team or group leader.
Please make sure the email address and phone number provided during registration are current so we can reach you when needed.
You can find the Kids CAM+ calendar on the CVC app under Kids' ministries.
SCHEDULE CHANGES & DAYS OFF
Our regular Kids CAM + schedule is Wednesdays from 3:30–4:30 PM.
There may be occasional changes because of the school calendar, holidays, special events, or other ministry activities. When this happens, we will communicate the change through the Kids CAM + app/email and update the calendar when possible.
If you are ever unsure whether Kids CAM + is meeting, please check the app or the attached calendar before coming.
