Twenty-five years ago, September 11 became a day we would never forget. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage of ordinary people who, in extraordinary circumstances, chose to help one another. Even in one of our nation's darkest hours, there were reminders that compassion, sacrifice, honor, hope, and love can shine brightest when the world feels darkest.

As Christians, we know that sorry and tragedy will not have the final word. Jesus promised, "I will come again" (John 14:3), and that promise gives us a hope greater than anything this world can take away. As we remember September 11, may we honor those lost by loving & serving our neighbors, and let us live with our eyes fixed on the day when Christ returns - when death and mourning will be no more, and God will make all things new.

Speaking this week is our Lead Pastor, Simon Liversidge, on "The Table of Abundance." In the parable of the lost son, Jesus invites all His children to the table of abundance. Jesus wants us to know that abundance isn't about wealth. It is found in His kingdom of unlimited love and grace. His invitation is experienced in community with others. That fellowship brings us into the abundance of God's kingdom as Jesus transforms how we experience His abundance communally.

Parents, we love having you and your children in church, but we invite and urge you to keep your kids from running up and down aisles and in the lobby. This is not only an issue of respect and reverence, but also an issue of safety. Thank you!

FAMILY MATTERS: A Seat at the Table - Raising Connected & Healthy Kids! Parents, join us tomorrow, September 12, from 9:45–10:45am in the Relationships Sabbath School classroom, downstairs by the Fellowship Hall, for a practical conversation about pediatric and family mental health. Dr. Leitzke, a Southern California psychiatrist board certified in both Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and a Loma Linda University graduate, will share from a Christian and Adventist perspective. Together, we’ll explore how belonging, connection, and healthy relationships impact our children’s emotional well-being, and how we can create homes where kids feel seen, known, valued, and invited to the table. 

KIDS' CREATIVE ARTS MINISTRY is back! Kids CAM is a creative discipleship ministry where kids learn to follow Jesus through drama, music, movement, art, and other creative gifts. Together, we build relationships, grow in faith, discover God-given talents, and use our creativity to share His story. We meet Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30pm, though the schedule and meeting locations may vary. Email nicole.broushet@collegeviewchurch.org for more info!

Do you have an American Flag that is ready to be retired?  Pathfinders will be holding a ceremony to retire American Flags that have seen too many days flapping in the sun. If you would like you can drop the flags off on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:15pm in Heartland Hall and Pathfinders will properly retire the flags at our fall campout on September 19 at Woodland Acres. Retiring a flag is not simply discarding cloth. It is the final act of respect for everything that cloth has stood for.

Janet Spellerberg, mother of our own Jodi Gilson and Jon Engen, and cousin of Eldina Blue, fell asleep in Jesus this past week. She was a 1964 nursing graduate of Union College and has been an active member of Capitol View SDA Church. Memorial service will happen today at 4pm at Capitol View Church. Please keep this family in your prayers.
