DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING

In the Great Commission, Jesus invites us to go and MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations. At CVC, we want to make sure each of us has the opportunity to grow in our spiritual maturity as a follower of Jesus.

Tomorrow, Sabbath, May 16 from 1:30-3:30pm, we are offering four classes. Each class is designed to help us grow deeper in our faith and ministry life. All are invited to participate, including children who are members.

We invite you to start with Class 101. But, if you feel like you already know and practice this level of discipleship, please feel free to begin with any class you feel comfortable with.

Class 101: This is an introduction to our CVC family and invites you to understand, on a deeper level, what it means to be a member of CVC and the body of Christ. You will learn the mission and values of CVC. Refresh the basic doctrines and teachings of CVC and the SDA church. Get to know our church family and understand what it means on a practical level to be part of our church family, including how the church functions and how you can be a functioning part of our family. ALL MEMBERS ARE INVITED TO BE PART OF CLASS 101, especially new members. (Leading: Simon & Cecilia Liversidge - Heartland Hall A)

Class 201: This is an invitation to a deeper level of spiritual maturity. We will focus on spiritual disciplines and how to have a growing and thriving personal relationship with Jesus. We look specifically at learning how to implement the four habits of a disciple of Jesus: daily time in God's Word, prayer, living generously, and fellowship - including small group membership. (Leading: Cameron Fitzgerald & Sheryl Selivanoff - Heartland Hall C)

Class 301: This is an invitation to discover your particular area of ministry at CVC and in our community. This class will focus on SHAPE: spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experience. We will explore your particular giftedness and calling by God as a way to help you get involved in ministry life, either locally at CVC or in our community and world. (Leading: Rich Carlson & Mic Henton - Board Rm)

Class 401: This class will help you discover your life mission in this world. You will be trained specifically on God's mission for our world and on your place as part of God's mission. We will learn about how to be a witness in your workplace, school or anywhere you go by developing eyes that see around us, a heart that longs to share, and a prayer focus inviting God to use us for His purposes. (Leading: Nicole Broushet & Mollie Dupper - Jr High Rm)

WORSHIP THIS SABBATH

Speaking this Sabbath is Simon Liversidge, our Lead Pastor, with "Investigating Judgement." The idea of an investigative judgement can seem scary, but Jesus wants us to know how God judges the world and why. We see that God is our righteous Redeemer, our merciful Mediator, & our faithful Father. Our righteous Redeemer saves us by faith. Our merciful Mediator continues His good work in us. And our faithful Father invites us to see God's work for our collective destiny and His character and rule.
Forks and Friendship potluck will be hosted by Gerrie Eddy’s team this Sabbath. Visitors, please join the CVC family as our guests. If you are attending as a CVC member, please plan to bring at least 2-3 dishes to share!

Upcoming Potlucks:
May 23 - Forks and Friendship hosted by Tabby Coto’s team
May 30 - No potluck (Kansas-Nebraska Campmeeting)
June 6 - Forks and Friendship hosted by Pete Blankenship’s team

Church Ministry Placement Team (aka Nominating Committee!) is meeting this summer to select the volunteer leaders of our church for the next two-year cycle. Please be in prayer for these people as we offer God our best efforts in choosing the people who will help guide all the ministries of this church. To help with this process we are asking that you fill out the bulletin insert this Sabbath to help us know where you might see yourself serving our church with your gifts and talents. Thank you in advance for your prayers and your filled-out form.
We warmly invite all current greeters — and anyone interested in joining this important ministry — to attend our upcoming Greeters Meetings on June 6 and June 20 in the Board Room around 1:30pm. A Zoom link will also be available for those who prefer to join remotely. Our main focus will be on recruitment as we continue to grow our welcoming team, as well as the completion of background checks to support our commitment to children’s safety. The Greeters Ministry is more than a friendly hello or handing a bulletin — it is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of God, reaching out with warmth, kindness, and Christ’s love to everyone who walks through our doors. Your presence makes a difference in creating a welcoming and caring church environment. We hope to see you there! For questions, call Jeanette at 402.517.0620 or email Jeanette.cowin@yahoo.com.
Adopt-a-Spot is alive and well and we thank all those who have chosen their piece of the church to help keep clean. As we all find our special respective spots in the church, we all gain a new appreciation for what it takes to create a positive first impression for visitors and what can happen to such a big facility when we all work together. Sign up is at the Ministry Gallery. Please pick your spot, involve your whole family, and help us keep God's house looking good.
This Sabbath (May 16) we will be meeting for our Hymn Sing at 6:30pm. Join us in the Earliteen room to praise God in song. This week we will be using the old SINGING YOUTH songbook. If you have a copy please bring it as there will be a limited number of books available.
We have some new books by Wanda Brunstetter that you might like:
