WORSHIP THIS SABBATH

Speaking this week is Simon Liversidge, our Lead Pastor, with "I Will Go to Spain." Paul is a true missionary. He wants to share Jesus where no one else has gone, but he knows he can't do it alone. He needs the body of Christ. In Romans 15, Paul invites us to consider three important truths about unity in Jesus through life in the Spirit: God unites us in hope. God unites us in mission. God unites us in prayer.

Parents, we love having you and your children in church, but we invite and urge you to keep your kids from running up and down aisles and in the lobby. This is not only an issue of respect and reverence, but also an issue of safety. Thank you!

Join Janya Mekelburg’s team as they host Forks and Friendship potluck. Visitors, please come as our guests. CVC members, please plan on bringing enough food to feed your family plus six additional people.
Upcoming potlucks:
August 8 - All Church potluck hosted by Linda Becker’s team
August 15 - Forks and Friendship hosted by Tabby Coto’s team
August 22 - Forks and Friendship hosted by Carol Silva’s team

MINISTRY & SMALL GROUPS NEWS

Called: Finding Your Place in God's Story (Women of Spirit Event): Women are invited to join us on Monday evening, October 5 for our Women of Spirit event featuring guest speaker Beth Guckenberger, who will have a pre-recorded message for us. Every woman has been uniquely created by God and invited into His mission. Together we'll explore what it means to faithfully say "yes" to God's calling, even when we feel ordinary, unqualified, or uncertain. Register using this link.

Mom's Swim & Spa Day: Moms, you deserve an afternoon just for you! Join us on Sunday, August 23, from 12-4pm for a relaxing afternoon of friendship, swimming, lunch, manicures, and massages. We'll gather at Rebeca Becker's home (5185 Quarry Ledge Road, Roca). Manicures and massages will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so come ready to unwind, connect, and be refreshed. Questions? Contact cecilia.liversidge@collegeviewchurch.org. Mark your calendars — we can't wait to spend the afternoon with you!

Adventure awaits! CVC Club Ministries — Adventurers and Pathfinders — are back for the 2026–2027 season! Online registration opens Sabbath, August 1. Register early to secure your spot for another year of faith, friendship, service, and outdoor adventure. New to Club Ministries or want to learn more? Join us for our Season Kick-Off at Woodland Acres, August 22–23 for bonfire worship, camping, and a fun weekend as we launch the new season together. Use the link here to register for Club Ministries and let us know you're coming to the Season Kick-Off!

Move-Up Sabbath is August 15! It's almost time for a new Sabbath School year. Please log in to KidCheck to create or update your family's profile so your child is registered in the correct classroom. Need assistance? Visit the Kids Ministry Booth in the lobby on August 8 or August 15. We'd be happy to help with KidCheck, answer your questions, or help you sign up as a classroom helper or volunteer. Remember: August 8 is the last Sabbath in current classes, and August 15 is the first Sabbath in the new Sabbath School classes.

Our Kindergarten & 1st Grade Sabbath School is looking for additional teachers! If you have a heart for helping young children grow in their love for Jesus, we'd love to have you join the team. For more information, please contact Carrie Gaul at 402.730.4317.

The next Woodland Acres vespers is on Aug. 8 with our speaker Buell Fogg. We will start at 6:15pm with sharing cold watermelon and water, then worship will begin at 7pm. Everyone is welcome!

Bloom in the Desert: Navajo Women's Mission Trip • March 13–21. Come be the hands and feet of Jesus! This spring, we're inviting a team of women (18+) to join us on a mission trip to the Navajo Mission in Kayenta, Arizona, where we'll have the privilege of sharing Christ's love with the women of the Navajo Nation through practical acts of kindness, encouragement, and friendship. Many of these women have limited access to everyday necessities and rarely experience the simple gift of being cared for. Together, we'll minister to both body and soul by offering prayer, sharing the Gospel, and serving in tangible ways. Whether your gifts include cooking, giving manicures or haircuts, organizing a donation shopping room, assisting with communion, leading arts and crafts, or simply offering a listening ear and praying with others, there is a place for you on this team. We'll also enjoy meaningful fellowship together, including visits to Sedona and the Grand Canyon as we travel by charter bus. If your heart is stirred by this opportunity to serve, add your name to the interest list today! Cost: TBD based on # of attendees. For more information or to express your interest, visit our interest table after church on August 22 & 29 or email cecilia.liversidge@collegeviewchurch.org.

Moms of Summer: Fellowship, Fun & Friendship! Calling all moms - Join us August 13 at Star City Shores at 2pm. Bring your swimsuit, pack snacks, and come enjoy time together in community! We’d love to have you. Questions? Call Cecilia at 310.699.3521.

7th & 8th grade girls: Join our Teen Girl Bible Study this fall! This 7-week Bible study through “As for Me” by Adrienne Camp will give great insight & help our young ladies through the next stage of their faith journey. Beginning September 19, we'll meet during Sabbath School from 9:45–10:45am. Together, we'll explore what it means to grow closer to Jesus, bring every emotion honestly before Him, and build a faith that remains steadfast through life's joys and challenges. To register your daughter and receive book ordering information, email cecilia.liversidge@collegeviewchurch.org.

Birding Small Group: Those interested in seeing the fall warblers that migrate through Lincoln are invited to join the birding group on a special birding adventure with experienced guides Shari Schwartz & John Carlini. These two people are known for their great bird knowledge and photography skills. We will meet at the church on September 19, at 5:30pm, and will go to the site that is the best for whatever warblers are in our area at the time. Bring your binoculars and adventuresome spirit!

Our Breakfast Ministry is looking for friendly faces who enjoy welcoming others, sharing a meal, and helping create a warm and inviting church community. If you love meeting new people, making connections, and serving with a smile, we’d love to have you join the team! Whether you can help regularly or occasionally, your presence can make a meaningful difference. For more information or to get involved, please contact Cecilia Liversidge as soon as possible at 310.699.3521. Together, let’s create a place where everyone feels seen, welcomed, and valued.

Purity Recovery: Struggling with sexual habits you want to change can feel isolating, but you’re not alone. If you’re looking for a safe, confidential place to find freedom, build healthier patterns, and grow in your faith, we invite you to join our support class. It’s designed for those who want encouragement, accountability, and a path forward grounded in hope. If this sounds like the support you’ve been needing, reach out to Ty Dreamer at 402.480.5401 for details. And, ladies, if you are struggling with pornography or unwanted sexual behaviors or are in a relationship with someone who is and need support, get in touch with Holly for her group, Betrayal & Beyond. Freedom is possible, and we’re here to walk with you.

Adopt-a-Spot is alive and well and we thank all those who have chosen their piece of the church to help keep clean. As we all find our special respective spots in the church, we all gain a new appreciation for what it takes to create a positive first impression for visitors and what can happen to such a big facility when we all work together. Sign up at the Ministry Gallery. Please pick your spot, involve your whole family, and help us keep God's house looking good.

Do you have a ministry you want to promote? 800-1200 people visit CVC Farmers Market every Sunday. Advertise your ministry/event/class at our CVC booth. Schedule one or more Sundays now - October 25. Contact Chuck Peck to reserve the Sunday(s) you want at 269.240.0051!

Thank you to all who have contributed to the Nazario meal train in the loss of beloved Jeanne. There are a few spots still remaining; see the link here. The Celebration of Life will be October 10. More details to come.

"Dear church family, we wanted to express our heartfelt thanks for remembering our family after we lost our father, George Deemer. The plant was beautiful and a living reminder of people who care. Those who attended the funeral were a comfort to us on a hard day. Also the luncheon was amazing and a real gift to our family & friends. Thanks to all who provided the food & for the kind hearted ladies who organized the meal. We were blessed daily by our dad and now we continue to feel much gratitude, in our hearts, for the family in our church. With grateful hearts," Kirk & Suzette Powell and Gary & Julie Deemer

Prayer Focus: "We cannot fight spiritual battles in human power. For spiritual war, we need spiritual power. Human wisdom, plans, and strategies may be good, but they will never bear real success without the power of the Holy Spirit. We can plant the seeds, water, till, and weed, but only God gives the growth." (Zech. 4:6) In the Spirit and Power pg.22 - Fill us with Your power, Lord, so that souls may be won for you! Send your prayer requests & praises to Dina Horst at 402.420.5970. Thank you!
