On-Site Services Resuming

On-site services will resume beginning Sabbath, June 20. We are eager to be together and aware that we must make temporary modifications in order to keep one another healthy. Please read below to find out about those modifications.

In summary--

  • On-site services beginning June 20
  • One service at 9:15am
  • Zoom Sabbath Schools moving to 10:30
  • Social distancing and face coverings
  • Sick people are asked to stay home

There will be a single church service at 9:15 on Saturday mornings. We will meet in the sanctuary with a distance of at least six feet between each household. (One advantage of our large sanctuary is that we easily hold 70+ households while occupying only every other pew!)

In the spirit of loving concern for our church family, please wear a face covering. Research indicates this is one of the best measures we can take to prevent unintentionally spreading the virus to others.

The front doors, the east doors, and the southeast doors will be open for entering the church. Doors will be propped open wherever possible, and instead of hugs and handshakes, we'll share words of greeting and waves with one another. No one will be taking temperatures at the door.

Drinking fountains and kitchens will still be closed, but the bathroom facilities will be open, and of course they will be cleaned before the start of the service. The offering plate will not be passed, but you can still give online any day of the week.

The sanctuary service will have many familiar elements, including beautiful organ music, prayer together, preaching, and more. For now congregational singing will not be a part of our services since that has been identified as a highly infectious activity.

We will be continuing our online services at Facebook and Livestream.com at 9am and they will be available for viewing any time after that. Family Worship Live will be offered every week. Our Zoom Sabbath Schools will keep meeting, too, but at 10:30am to accommodate those who wish to attend on-site worship. Our Sabbath School meetings are excellent, and if you're not yet connected to one, the pastor on call (402-665-1309) will be happy to explain how to get involved.

You will have to decide for yourself and your family if now is the right time for you to return to on-site worship. Attendance is not a religious obligation. We will miss you and we will look forward to when you are able and comfortable to return to in-person gatherings.

If you are sick or have any symptoms of illness, we ask that you please stay home, for the sake of all who come to gather here. Relevant symptoms include: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, congestion or runny nose, sore throat, nausea, and vomiting. (Click here for more.)

We are a church family and it is hard to be apart from each other. We have all felt that pain over the last three months, and we are eager to get back together. In the meantime we enjoy the Zoom meetings, phone calls, Family Nights, vespers, and so forth. Truly, we have every reason for peace, we have every reason for hope, we have every reason for loving: Our God reigns.

In His service,

Your College View Church Board
